In 1999, after a break of 3 years, IKON decided to hit the stage again. This time, was with a new line up, and Chris singing for the first time, something he never wanted to do. After making their live debut in Adelaide in September, Valerios booked the Esplanade in Melbourne for the show, and happened to be the night of Chris's 39th birthday. At the time, he was thinking seriously about changing the name, hence the title 'The Trial of Destiny'. The show was recorded by the venue and Chris decided to release it as a mail order cd, show casing the new line up. As the soundcheck was also recorded, they played a cover of The Velvet Undergrounds 'Sister Ray', which Chris decided to include on the end. A high quality recording and performance, showing the band moving forward, the first time live performance of certain tracks and the last of others. Was a big thing to play his home town for the first time in 3 and a half years, on his birthday.
